The 1997 Street Tree Award Gala was held on December 1, 1997 at the Four Seasons restaurant in the Seagram's Building on Park Avenue. It was hosted by Seagram's and Sterling Vinyards.

The recipient of this year's award was the Carnegie Hill Neighbors, a community group dedicated to the care and betterment of the Carnegie Hill area.
