NEW YORK, AWARDS AND RECOGNITION
TNY's programs,
achievments and recogition for its work has been great.
Highlights include the following:
- Atlanta
Botanical Garden Award
for an education exhibit at the 1992 New York
Flower Show;
- 1994 National
Urban & Community Forestry Advisory Council Challenge Grant
(USDA FS) for its model
citizen youth program;
- 1995 Chevrolet
Geo Award for Environmental Excellence
as the Nation's outstanding tree organization.
Proclamations and congratulations were issued by Governor Pataki
and Mayor Giuliani;
- "Trees
New York Day" in Brooklyn, January 11, 1996,
the Borough of Brooklyn and its President Howard
Golden proclaimed the day in recognition of TNY's volunteer tree
training program and related programs
- "Trees
New York Citizen Pruner Appreciation Day", April 13th, 1996,
the day was proclaimed by the NYC as recognition
of the invaluable service the organization and its volunteers provide
the City. TNY received a certificate of appreciation issued by Commissioner
Stern and Mayor Giuliani.
