New York Celebrates! The 2003 Street Tree Award Benefit
Held
on February 2, 2004 at the HSBC Corporate Headquartes, the 2003 Annual Benefit
honored:
East 80th Street Block Association
East 78th Street Block Association (Park/Lex)
East 78th Street Block Association (Lex/3rd)
The benefit chairperson
was Mr. Henry Hassan and the event was generously hosted by HSBC
Holdings plc. The evening's event raised much needed money for
TNY.We thank all who helped to make the evening a huge success. This year
Trees New York honored the accomplishments of these outstanding block
associations. These groups have planted and maintained their street trees
for the benefit of their communities and all of New York City. The block
associations serve as models for neighborhoods throughout the City through
their planting and stewardship efforts, tree pit gardening, tree pit guard
installations and community activism. Trees New York salutes the efforts
of the East 80th Street Block Association, the East 78th Street Block
Association (Park/Lex) and the East 78th Street Block Association (Lex/3rd).

Messageboard Added
We've just restarted our online
messageboard to
our website, which was down since the WTC
disaster. The messageboard is a forum that allows citizen pruners and
other interested parties to communicate directly with each other. You
can post a time and place for a pruning outing. You can ask a tree care
question. You can ask for and give advice to your fellow tree lovers.
Check it out
and start up a conversation with other people who love our cities trees.
